Great location and comfortable room. It was great to have a fridge and table and the room was pretty spacious as well as light and airy. The shower was good and the room was cleaned daily. Communication about check in was very good and someone met us within a few minutes of arrival. She was delightful . There are heaps of great restaurants close by and transport options are huge. There is heaps to do in the area and it’s close to everything. It was a little louder than ideal on the Friday night but nothing outrageous and the location is fabulous. The other nights were no issues at all. I had read about the nearby peep show and was a little concerned but it presented no issues. It wasn’t open that much and was really low key. I felt safe and secure. I would definitely stay here again.

We would have loved to have stayed here, but 10 days before our trip our booking was arbitrarily cancelled by this outfit.! The reason they gave was that my credit card was declined, despite having made the booking over 6 months ago. I had already checked to ensure that everything was in order, including checking that my credit card was saved (it was). I phoned them direct asking why they had cancelled my booking...and was told that they were over-booked ? and that we were the unfortunates in this instance, and that there was nothing that they could or would do. I suspect that prices have risen and that they did not want to honour the booking. Even Booking.Com would not help.....be very aware that you may suffer the same fate. I'm now having to re-book at a vastly increased price elsewhere.

We didn’t receive any correspondence from the owner so arrived late on a Saturday evening to the dark alley by a Peep show! It was very intimidating. There were so many door bells outside the apartment but none marked Rossio. Thankfully the white one worked and we spoke to a lady who said we should come for the keys at a sister hotel ten minutes away! It was quite frustrating. I ran there leaving my family and luggage by the door. Apparently Natalie should have contacted us but she never did. They never asked to see our passports or anything. I collected the keys and paid more money then ran back. The windows kept the peep show noise out but typically the AC wasn’t working so it was ridiculously hot and stuffy even in April. The shower drain is blocked so the tray overflows when more than one person showers. The lobby stinks of blocked drains so obviously it’s a universal issue. The maid comes around 6pm just when you are getting ready to go out for dinner so that’s a shame. However the location right on Rossio square is superb. Santa just a lift is just around the corner and the commercial plaza just ten minutes flat walk. The peep show didn’t annoy us since we arrived late on Saturday and it was closed on Sunday and Monday night but there were some dodgy characters hanging around and my 10 year daughter was most alarmed.

Intimidating, thank goodness for the cleaner & Isabel at the “sister” hotel.

I’ve not really known how to describe the “vacation/break” at Rossio Apartments. FANTASTIC location, literally a stones throw from Rossio square. Local amenities within a few steps, even a pharmacy (which was very handy for when my inhaler burst!). Facilities within the room were pretty good, EXCEPTIONALLY clean, our cleaners were AMAZING, fresh linens/towels daily. And the beds were as crisp as hospital beds. Not enough bed linen provided and our “heated air conditioner”, just made the room colder. We had to raid the poor cleaners cub-bard, for an extra blanket. We were unfortunate enough, to have been placed in the room “above” the “peep show”. And I have to say, I wish we had ignored all other reviews, and just booked the Rossio hotel instead.. The only night we had any proper sleep, was Sunday 5th, the night before we flew. We ended up missing parts of our trip; because we were being kept awake until around 2am by the noise downstairs. We had booked here, having read the music stops around 10pm, (reasonable, it’s a city afterall). having landed in Lisbon around 9pm, we had been provided with a “complimentary” transfer, that we then had to pay €35 euros for, when we arrived at the “sister hotel”, to check in. Local Ubers cost around €8-10 euros, so felt a bit ripped off to say the least. However, it was worth it for the “history of Lisbon” lesson, our lovely taxi driver gave us. I don’t mind paying double for a service, but triple/quadrupole. Just a bit frustrating.. The receptionist at the sister hotel, “Isabel”, was a DELIGHT, super helpful, really lovely and really wish we had just booked the hotel instead. We arrived at the apartments, that are just located at the right of the archway. The entrance is poorly lit and two girls carrying suitcases, past drunken men outside a peep show. Didn’t really feel very “safe”. We headed out for food and got back, past midnight, the music was continuous until about 1.30am the Thursday night (into Friday) 3rd, (my birthday), and I spent the first few hours of my birthday, PRAYING that they would close up; so that I could just get to sleep. We ended up waking up late on my birthday, and I had to miss our Belem tower from the trip as we just didn’t have enough time to cover it. That Friday night, was HORRENDOUS, bare in mind it was my birthday so we only got back late ourselves. Men stood outside catcalling/ drunk/ no real presence of any security/any lighting. It was EXTREMELY, intimidating. We felt SO on edge walking into the building/through the street to get to our apartment. And although inside the building feels quite safe, it wouldn’t take much to kick the door through/ climb up the ledges. And when you have that much alcohol and “live sex show”, fuelled men around, it can be a VERY, daunting & intimidating experience. I don’t know why we were placed in the room directly above? Because we’re two young women? we wouldn’t mind trying to stay above a “peep show?”. The music did NOT turn off before 1am, except on the Sunday, when the peep show was closed. (It was our last night and we had an early flight) Our extractor fan was broken, so when we cooked we would open the window, but there were so many tourists smoking/ smoking cannabis directly below our windows, it was difficult to navigate the smoke, which, when you’re eating, it’s gross. We ended up giving up with the windows, because we couldn’t even have a proper conversation with one another, over the music. We would be shouting to one another just to properly catch what each-other were saying. We were expecting a “classy”, central apartment to sightsee and relax, not some nicely window dressed “creepy dive”. I’ve been to Amsterdam, wasn’t in Lisbon to experience a “stag party”. Certainly not the place to stay if you want to sightsee/‘relax’. Because of the room location, we ended up being kept awake every night of our trip. Saturday was the worst, because we again over slept and missed our train to Sintra. We had to get a private taxi to the city, and missed seeing the palace gardens, because we didn’t have enough time to get there and back at a reasonable hour. And as I’d always wanted to see “SINTRA”, from very young, it was extremely disheartening to only see the palace, and not get chance to explore/see the gardens. Cleanliness of the room, was second to none. Absolutely clean as a whistle, even the toilet rolls were well stocked. Definitely won’t be recommending if you’re female/ female solo travelling, certainly wouldn’t be recommending it to families, either. Stag parties /hen parties- it’s the place the be! If you’re going to risk it, make sure you’re getting a room that overlooks the square itself, the city itself is actually the most BEAUTIFUL, peaceful, city at night. Street cleaners around/ police presence in the main centre. We just felt very on edge in our room, anyone could have jumped onto the adjacent balcony and got in our room.. we tried to spend as little time as possible, in the apartment itself. which when you’re self catering, we racked up a lot of our holiday expenses, just trying to get out of the room to avoid the noise/feeling intimidated. When we checked in at the” sister hotel”, we felt that Isabel had just been “left”, to deal with our check in, even though, it wasn’t where we were staying . So thank you so much again Isabel, you at least gave us faith that we could return to Lisbon, and find a “nice”, place to stay. Overall, the room itself wasn’t too bad and location wise, you can’t really get more central. Would I be returning to the apartments again? I certainly wouldn’t be risking it, if it meant I missed out half of my sightseeing, and was catcalled, every, single, time we went into the building. Our curtains wouldn’t close properly/had come loose at the top, so we had a lot of street light glaring in. There was also a VERY, annoying LED light, on the smoke alarm (located directly ABOVE the beds), that every 3 seconds, felt like the room was having a strobe effect. (And with the blasting music downstairs, I felt like I was in my university halls again; not an apartment located in the “old town”, of the ancient city, of Lisbon. When we were waiting to leave our apartment with the suitcases, we waited behind the entrance door; to avoid being stood in a street with the cases. The door didn’t automatically close, so if someone forgot to close it,. It was very, easy access, to the building itself. Thankfully, Lisbon had a lot more to offer than what rossio apartments did for us. The 2 stars, are for the cleaners, the facilities, the location to everything, and Isabel. Otherwise, I genuinely would’ve given it a ZERO. It was quite frustrating, to be looking forward to a birthday- sightseeing- trip, to be kept awake all night, missing half of the planned, sights in the process.. We had lost my father in December and worked very hard to go have a nice, relaxing break.. I spent the whole time in the apartment feeling like i was in some form of university halls, and constantly on edge. All in all, the worst “self catering apartments”; I’ve ever stayed in. Based purely on the fact, that we missed out on half our excursions, had to pay double, even triple for our transport (that was prebooked for early hours). and spent a lot of money trying to just get away from the apartment/feel like we were on holiday. Think If we had a “quieter”, room and could’ve gotten some sleep; it would be 5 stars. But since we missed out on 2 of the main attractions within Lisbon (Sintra palace gardens & the Belem tower). We also had to skip the lift out, because we had overslept from being kept awake all night & didn’t want to miss the castle of saint Jorje. Not a big deal for me, because I can speak Spanish, but the Netflix account in the room was on a Spanish language setting.. and navigating it in a different language, if you’re not privy to a Latin based language, would be very difficult.

Rosio apartment was a very good choice in our one night stay in Lisbon. It has a perfect location in the city centre with metro station nearby. Apartment is on the first floor with about 20 stairs. We could walk to sightseeing, and there was a lot of shopping and dining in the area. Despite being on lively square, it was quiet inside (we stayed on Sunday night). The apartment was equipped with a basic kitchenette, small eating area, bathroom and spacious bedroom with comfy bed. Everything was clean and well maintained. Communication with the manager was efficient and check-in easy.
